An oasis of greenery awaits on the east side of the Imperial Palace. Here, you will find the Imperial Palace' s East Gardens and Kokyo Gaien National Garden. Both are open to the public and offer visitors a taste of the quiet and calm of old Tokyo. Just a short walk from the gardens is Tokyo Station, one of Japan' s most dignified and beloved western buildings with an impressive facade constructed from red bricks. Formerly the educational district of Tokyo nobles, this area has become the nation' s hub for second-hand bookstores. Discover hidden relics like old maps and vintage literary collections as you wander the streets of this old Edo neighborhood. And don' t forget to check out a local curry shop or to visit one of the many large musical instrument stores in the area, after striking a bargain at a vintage clothing boutique. The vestiges of Edo Castle amidst unbridled nature and stunning scenery  

Every year more than one million people from all over the world come to see the famous cherry blossoms along the Chidori-ga-fuchi Moat. With the arrival of spring, the moat' s waters are tinted a beautiful shade of pink, emblematic of the poetic charm of this special season.
This same quintessentially Japanese scenery can be seen in the gardens of Yasukuni Shrine as well.
As you head towards the Kitanomaru area, the landscape slowly transforms as you descend upon the National Museum of Modern Art and Nippon Budokan.
